Logbook transfer in Kenya
A Kenyan logbook is the vehicle registration document. Buyer and seller transfer it through NTSA TIMS.
Updated October 2026
What is a logbook?
In Kenya the logbook is the registration certificate for a vehicle. It is not the UK V5C. The chassis number, owner name, and registration number on the logbook are what you compare with the car and with the seller's ID.
Who transfers it?
The buyer and the seller do. Rockland Auto introduces the listing and the inquiry. It does not lodge the transfer and it does not hold the money for the car. Check the record on the NTSA TIMS portal before you pay.
What to take
- Original logbook, not a photocopy you cannot compare.
- Seller and buyer identification.
- A payment you can trace, such as a bank transfer or M-Pesa.
- The fee NTSA lists for the transfer on the day you submit it.
